Between January and November 2025, TV Channels Entertainment Portugal was a defining trend in the broadcast landscape, as entertainment dominated the programming schedules of Portugal’s main TV channels. According to MediaMonitor data, RTP1, RTP2, SIC, and TVI dedicated around 9,276 hours to entertainment during the first eleven months of the year. This means that one in every three minutes of broadcast time was devoted to this category, representing 33% of total programming, excluding advertising.

Entertainment Leads the Way
Entertainment was the clear leader in the programming mix, followed by:
- News: 21% of airtime (5.962 hours)
- Fiction: 16% (over 4.348 hours)
- General Culture: 12% (3.255 hours)
Differences Across Channels
The distribution of content varied significantly among the four channels:
- RTP2 stood out for its diversity, with 32% of its schedule dedicated to general culture, 29% to youth-oriented programs, and 14% to fiction.
- RTP1 led in news programming, accounting for 38% of this category.
- RTP2 also dominated youth and sports content, with 88% and 73% shares respectively.
- SIC was the main contributor to fiction (36%), while TVI took the lead in entertainment (31%).
Methodology
This analysis was conducted by MediaMonitor’s using YumiAnalytics Desktop software, based on the CAEM-TV database, covering the period from January 1 to November 30, 2025, considering Total Day and Universe target.
