New insights from TGI by Marktest

The adoption of kitchen robots continues to grow in Portugal, reaching its highest level to date. According to the latest results from TGI, the consumer study conducted by Marktest, one in five Portuguese households now owns a kitchen robot.

A growing presence in Portuguese homes

Data from the 2024 global wave of TGI shows that 1.541 million individuals report having a kitchen robot at home. This figure represents 20.7% of residents in mainland Portugal, aged between 15 and 74.

This indicator has shown consistent growth over time and, in 2024, reached the highest level since this ownership metric has been tracked, confirming the consolidation of kitchen robots as a relevant household appliance in Portugal.

Who is more likely to own a kitchen robot?

Ownership is not evenly distributed across the population. The study highlights several key differences:

  • Age: Individuals aged 35 to 44 are the most likely to own a kitchen robot, with an incidence of 3%, well above the national average.
  • Geography: Residents in Greater Lisbon and Greater Porto show higher ownership rates than the rest of the country.
  • Social class: The most significant disparities are observed across social classes, where ownership levels among higher social classes are almost double those seen in lower ones.

These patterns underline the importance of socio‑demographic and economic factors in the adoption of domestic technology.

Why TGI matters for consumer insights
